MONTCLAIR-August 24, 2015 The Montclair Shared Housing Association, which owns and operates the Montclair Inn, gladly announces the donation of seven Telikin computers from Care at Home NJ. Care at Home is a non-profit organization associated with Vanguard Medical Group. Their mission is to support the home-bound elderly and their caregivers by helping patients to age-in-place. Telikin is a company that creates “the world’s easiest computer.” They have large touch screen monitors and gadgets which are easy to use, making it a perfect fit for a senior citizen.
This generous donation to The Montclair Inn is the result of research by program director, Alex Kent and social worker, Maureen Karsen. The purpose of this donation is to select seniors who have expressed the need to be in contact with their families while they reside at the Montclair Inn. The computers will be delivered during the months of August and September.
Although having a personal computer can help seniors keep in touch with the world around them, it can also cause a sense of loneliness and isolation.. Due to such a possibility, each senior who receives a device will be required to report to Ms. Karsen every week via video chat. “Many of our residents have families that live in other states. These computers will give them the chance to Skype with grandchildren and relatives that they are rarely in touch with.” stated Joy Kay, Executive Director of The Montclair Inn.
Thanks to Care at Home New Jersey residents at the Montclair Inn will now be able to enjoy the latest “senior friendly” technology.
Founded in 1990, The Montclair Inn is an affordable residence for senior citizens ages 55 and older. For more information, contact us via email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (973)-746-8917.
