MONTCLAIR, NJ - Edgemont Pond will be stocked with over 300 types of fish for a special kids fishing derby. Free and oen to the public, the Montclair Kids Fishing Derby will take place on Saturday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at Edgemont Park in Montclair.  

Hosted by the Montclair Police Athletic (MPAL), Policeman's Benevolent Association (PBA) Local #53, Montclair Anglers and Eureka Lodge No. 52, the derby is geared toward youth in grades K - 8th. 

Families are encouraged to attend and bring fishing rods, as a limited amount of rods will be on hand as loaners.

To register online, go to www.montclairpal.org or at Edgemont Park between 8-9 a.m. on July 22.

Casting competition begins at 9 a.m. and the fishing derby begins at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for the first Gold Trout hooked, along with other prizes awarded for the first fish hooked and farthest cast.

Lunch will be provided. Registration and adult supervision will be mandatory.
