Montclair Leaders to Distribute Free School Supplies, Aug. 30

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Fourth Ward Councilor Renee Baskerville and Montclair Police Department School Resource Officer Kim Nelson-Edwards are pleased to announce the Eighth Annual Free School Supplies event, sponsored by the Sentinels 16, Montclair’s Minority Police Officer Association.

The event will take place Sunday, August 30, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., in Glenfield Park located at 115 Maple Avenue and will also feature a free cookout with hot dogs, hamburgers, games and prizes.

The Sentinels 16, Montclair’s Minority Police Officer Association, will have officers giving out free school supplies to Montclair families. Supplies are limited and pre-registration for the event is required.

Joining families at the event will be interim schools superintendent Ronald Bolandi, Montclair Township Mayor Robert Jackson, Montclair NAACP President Albert Pelham, and many community partners, neighbors and friends.

Please register to receive age appropriate backpacks by sending an email message to tbooker@montclairnjusa.orgwith the following information: your name and address, the names of your child/children and their grades.

Children must be present at the event to receive school supplies.

Co-sponsors of the event include: Montclair Fraternal Order of Police #126 (FOP), Renee Baskerville and the 4th Ward Collaborative, Montclair Neighborhood Development Corp. (MNDC), Montclair Education Association, Craftman Club of Eureka Lodge #52, Montclair Police Athletic League, and Montclair Cobras Football Team and Cheerleaders.
