Montclair Overlookers Win League Crown

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair's 30 and over softball league wins the league championships.

The Overlookers, managed by Jordan Safirstein, entered the playoffs as a number 4 seed and defeated the top seeded Mad Dawgs in the semi-finals in an earlier game that morning, to reach the finals against the Zombies. They toppled the defending champions, The Zombies in a Sunday morning game at Nishuane Park, with a final score of 18-16.

The Men's Softball League has been in Montclair for over 30 years.

The league is looking for one more team for next season. Anyone interested in starting a team please call Montclair Recreation for more info 973-509-4915.

Fall Programs

Registration is now for Fall Baseball for children entering 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. Games and practices will be played on Saturday afternoons at Nishuane Park. The fee is $75.

Registration is also open for Montclair Recreation NFL Flag Football for ages 5-9. Games will be played weeknights Monday-Friday at 6:15 and 7 p.m. Teams will meet 2-3 per week throughout the season. The season runs from September 15 through November 7. The fee is $75. Coaches are needed, inquire at the Recreation Department office.

Register for the above programs online at www.communitypass.net or at the Recreation Department, located on the first floor of the Montclair Municipal Building, 205 Claremont Avenue; office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
