Montclair Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Motor Vehicle in Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - A 69-year-old Montclair man was fatally struck by a car outside of a Bloomfield bagel shop on Monday morning.

As he crossed Broad Street, leaving Hot Bagels Abroad Deli sometime around 9:14a.m., Gary Moore was hit by a Toyota Corolla and pronounced dead at the scene, according to law enforcement officials.

A 39-year-old Bloomfield man was behind the wheel and has not been charged.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Bloomfield Police Director Samuel A. Demaio announced today that the Bloomfield Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide / Major Crimes Task Force are in the early stages of investigating the fatal motor vehicle collision at 1129 Broad Street in Bloomfield.

The investigation is active and ongoing, says officials.
