MONTCLAIR, NJ - Each Monday, Thursday and Friday Montclair Seniors gather at the Wally Choice Community Center for a social lunch gathering called "Do Drop Inn."
On February 4, the seniors had a special visit from members of the Montclair Police Department’s Community Service Unit (CSU) who gave a presentation to seniors.
Sergeant Tyrone Williams, Officers Travis Davis, Anjannette Johnson, and Paul Rusiniak, spoke to the seniors on various topics including being prepared for a natural disaster, how to stay safe at home and while traveling, and how to recognize common money scams/frauds. Officers fielded questions from the seniors, and provided information and brochures on the topics discussed. In partnership with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Northern New Jersey Chapter, the seniors were provided with an Emergency Preparedness gift bag.
The gift bags included items such as waterproof matches, hand-cranked flashlight/radio, 12-hour candle, medicine/pill organizer, and emergency toiletry kit. NOBLE’s Emergency Preparedness Program is provided in partnership with State Farm, and the American Red Cross.
