MONTCLAIR, NJ - On Monday at approximately 1:40 p.m. a black BMW 650i was carjacked in the area of Prospect Avenue, north of Claremont Avenue. The victim was walking to his vehicle when approached by a subject who was gesturing that he had a weapon in his waistband. The suspect then demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle.
This suspect took the victim's vehicle and fled southbound. It appears that this suspect had exited a silver Mercedes, which was also observed fleeing the scene. This Mercedes struck a street sign on Harrison Avenue, flattening and tire and becoming disabled. This vehicle was recovered, unoccupied, in the south end of Montclair and was discovered to have been stolen out of Saddlebrook.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’10” in height, approximately 25-35 years old, with a slim build. No injuries were reported in this incident.
