Montclair Police Search for Suspect Who Assaulted Woman

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair Police are searching for a suspect who assaulted a woman inside of Nishuane Park at 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

Montclair Police Officers responded to the intersection of Cedar Avenue and High Street on a report of a female screaming. 

Responding officers discovered that a 41-year-old female from Newark had been assaulted with an unknown weapon inside Nishuane Park.  During the assault, police officials confirm that the female sustained lacerations on her body and was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, who is described as a tall black male in his 40s, was last seen traveling south on High Street in a newer model, red two-door vehicle. Lt. David O'Dowd of the Montclair Police Department stated, "No weapon has been recovered as of yet."  

 

The matter is currently under investigation.
