MONTCLAIR, NJ - Crazy Mocha coffee shop of Montclair was packed with residents who flocked to have coffee with US Attorney Paul Fishman and Montclair Police Chief Todd Conforti on Friday morning.
Among those present at the 491 Bloomfield Avenue location, were Deputy Police Chiefs Tracey Frazzano and Wilhelm Young, Lt. Tyrone Williams, Jr. and several other officers.
Lt. Williams said, "We were fortunate enough to have US Attorney Paul Fishman in attendance. He is a Montclair resident and a friend of the Montclair Police Department."
Hosted by the Montclair Police Community Service Unit, the Coffee with a Cop initiative is a nationwide initiative designed to promote positive police interactions with the residents and businesses in the community.
Lt. Williams, who commands the community service unit, said, "It gives the public and us and opportunity to come together in a forum to just have conversation over a cup of coffee."
Over 175 different police agencies in 36 different states are implementing the 'Coffee with a Cop' program where the public gets to have their questions answered or even just say hello and meet the person that wears the uniform over a delicious cup of coffee.
Williams added that the community seems to enjoy the program and the goals is to move it around town to different areas.
"We are going to continue this as long as the community wants it. It gives us a tremendous opportunity to engage, to address concerns and it gives the public an opportunity to see cops in a different light," he concluded.
