MONTCLAIR, NJ - On a hot Saturday in June a community wellness day was held in the South End business district.
Vendors lined the Orange Road corridor in the parking lot of Community Bank from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 10.
The event was sponsored by Davis Integrated Medicine, whose business has served the community for over 35 years. Businesses and community service organizations partnered to share information with residents.
A wellness day like this was held 12 years ago.
As part of Davis Integrated Medicine, Julia Sickler, the outreach coordinator, collaborated with several local businesses and community services to make this possible.
The day was dedicated to providing the community with information from health screenings including blood pressure, eye and gluclose screenings, Zumba, Yoga, literature activities for kids and crafts.
Youth activities included chalk drawing, jump rope and hoola hoop with plenty of give-a-ways and raffles for all that attended.
At the end of the day Julia thanked all that participated and looks forward in continuing to keep the community informed of future planned events .
She stated, "The purpose of this day is to be a free educational opportunity for the community, [for residents] to learn more about health and wellness and to give access to the different resources available in the South End community and in Montclair."
"Health is more than just physical its mental, spiritual and emotional. ...so stay positive and stay in touch," she added.
