Montclair State University Cheer Team Places Second in NCAA Finals


MONTCLAIR, NJ - The Montclair State University Cheerleading Team has something to brag about after bringing home a second-place trophy from the NCAA Collegiate National Championship Final that took place this past weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Montclair who finished with a subtotal of 90.70 points and a final score of the same score, finished only behind Davenport University from Grand Rapids, Mich., which finished with a final score of 92.73.
Montclair’s highest rated categories were in the baskets, jumps and pyramids categories, where they received 9.23, 9 and 9 respectively. The weakest point found in Montclair’s performance in the weekend was the degree difference that was rated 8.60 as opposed to Davenport’s 8.98 score.
The result replicates Montclair’s performance at last year’s competition where Montclair also placed in second with 91.80, falling behind Bridgewater State University with 91.98.
