Montclair Wrestling Brings Home NJSIAA Third Place Title

LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Montclair Mounties wrestling team placed third overall with 123 points in the NJSIAA District 14 final round at Livingston High School on Saturday.

Montclair's final winners included Tyreek Staton who beat Bloomfield's Pablo Estevez at 113lbs via technical fall at 1:22, Atereque Jones defeated Nutley's Jason Castellanos with a sudden victory at 170 lbs and lastly Ben Crawley who took the victory due to a technical fall against Bloomfield's Vincent DiGiano at 285 lbs.

The final team results were the following:

1. Nutley: 219 
2. Bloomfield: 167
3. Montclair: 123
4. Belleville: 121
5. Livingson: 73
6. Newark Academy: 46
7. Newark East Side: 19
8. Christ the King: 0
9. West Orange: 0
10. West Side: 0

All athletes qualified for the Region 4 Tournament at West Orange next week.
