Mr. Bunny Draws Huge Crowd to Glenfield Park

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Hundreds of residents gathered in Glenfield Park to catch a glimpse of Mr. Bunny on Saturday.

The annual event is hosted by the Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs, in conjunction with PBA Local 53, to usher in the spring season with Mr. Bunny and lots of festive activities.

The annual Easter egg hunt was filled with scores of eager children all vying to find a special egg that wins them a prize. The fun day festivities also included egg decorating, face painting, prizes and a visit with Mr. Bunny himself. Some of the give-a-ways included bicycles, basketball gifts baskets and much more kid-friendly gifts.

Fourth Ward Councilwoman Renee Baskerville, also dressed as a bunny, mingled among the crowd giving away goodies to eager youth. Mayor Robert Jackson was also in attendance to partake in the fun.

Baskerville said that she was pleased to have the event held in the fourth ward and indicated that this may have been the largest crowd she's seen for the annual event. She said, "This year's Welcome Sweet Springtime Town-Wide Egg Hunt was truly amazing. For the first time in Montclair, The Recreation Department and PBA 53 teamed up with  many local township merchants and non-profit organization and "friends" to host our "eggstraveganza"  in Glenfield Park and it was one of the best that I can remember."

"This year the event truly reflected the richness, and diversity of our township! Bringing children and families together from all over Montclair for a day of family fun and experiencing the great things about all of our parks is what it's all about," Baskerville added.
