NBA’s Kevin Durant Visits Montclair Footwear and Apparel Store

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Kevin Durant of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder visited Montclair to chop it up with a local business owner.

Footwear and apparel store Takeover, located at 404 Bloomfield Ave., received a special visit from Durant on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

He hung out with owner Phillip Bobbitt and took a few pictures before heading out. The visit was unexpected and Bobbitt was surprised, but expressed that the mutual friend he shares with Durant encouraged the visit to the store. Bobbitt said, “We share mutual friends who asked him to stop by and see me.”

Durant has won an NBA Most Valuable Player Award, four NBA scoring titles, the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, and an Olympic gold medal and has also been selected to five All-NBA teams and five All-Star teams.

Takeover has been in Montclair for four years and specializes in sports footwear and apparel. There is another location at 42 Speedwell Ave. in Morristown. Hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
