Paving Notice Issued for Park Street, August 22

MONTCLAIR, NJ - A paving notice has been issued for Park Street from Watchung Avenue to Chestnut Street. The road will be paved beginning on or about Saturday, Aug. 22, weather permitting.

The Township of Montclair has issued the following advisory:

The project is expected to take approximately two to three days to complete. During this construction period the street will be closed at various times throughout the duration of this project.

Paving operations will begin at approximately 7:00 a.m. The street will be completely closed during the construction periods. All cars must be off Park Street between Watchung Avenue and Chestnut Street before 7:00 a.m. There will be no access once the paving activity starts.

Parking is available in the George Inness Parking Lot at the High School as well as on Midland Avenue (walking access through Mid-Park Lane) and North Fullerton Avenue (walking access through Essex Way).

The roadway will remain completely closed to traffic for 4 to 5 hours after paving is completed while the asphalt cools. No vehicles will be permitted on the roadway until the barricades are removed.

Police officers will be directing traffic during the paving operations.

If there is a problem and the Township inspector is not on-site we ask that you do not approach the contractor but immediately call the Department of Community Services at 973-509-5711. The inspector will contact you by phone within a short time.

Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience however this project will cause a disruption of normal routines and schedules.
