EAST ORANGE, NJ - Both Chairman Hamm and Freeholder Timberlake will join the ChangeMakers Radio Show this Saturday at 10:00 am for what promises to be a very exciting show. They will talk about their involvement in planning and supporting the April 8th United March Against President Trump’s policies and general direction for the country.

People’s Organization for Progress (POP) Chairman Mr. Lawrence Hamm has been a relentless advocate for African-American people and the cause of human rights for more than 40 years. The struggle for quality education, employment opportunities, access to health care and against racial profiling, and police brutality continues through the efforts of its Chairman and the activism of the organization's members.

President Timberlake is the youngest Freeholder elected in the state of New Jersey and the only current sitting African-American female president. Her commitment to public service helps positively transform the lives of people in and outside of Essex County. As President, she has targeted and addressed several key issues affecting her fellow citizens including home ownership assistance, small business financing, foreclosures, immigration, and public safety. Her accomplishments resonate through her continuous work in discovering ways to improve the county she calls home.

Former Jefferson School Staffer Facing Criminal Charges For Alleged Lewd Photos of Students

Three School Buses Involved in Crash at Clark's ALJ High School

CLARK, NJ - Three buses collided in the Arthur L. Johnson High School parking lot around noon on Thursday.   There were students on the buses at the time according to Police Chief Pedro Matos.

Assembly Democratic Bill to Ensure Safety of Special Needs Students on School Buses Clears Assembly Panel 

June 21, 2018

TRENTON, NJ – Legislation sponsored by Assembly Democrats Daniel Benson, Valerie Vainieri Huttle, Reed Gusciora, Ralph Caputo and Andrew Zwicker to protect special needs students who ride school buses was released Monday by an Assembly panel. 

This bill (A-4332) would establish a minimum ratio of school bus aides to special needs students on a school bus.
