MONTCLAIR, NJ - Registration is now open for the Montclair Bulldogs/Recreation Pop Warner season.

We are gearing up for another successful season in North Jersey Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading. Roster spots are filling up fast, so do not miss out. The Bulldogs are looking for boys and girls ages 5-14; for the football and cheer teams. Registration forms are available on the Bulldogs Pop Warner website www.montclairpopwarner.com or may picked up at the Montclair Recreation office located at 205 Claremont Avenue – office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Participants are required to receive a general sports physical from their doctor before being permitted to play on Aug 1. They must also submit a final copy of their 2016-17 report cards with their registration -- Pop Warner requires all participants to maintain a 2.0 GPA in the classroom before permitting them to play or cheer.

Participants will be issued football and cheerleading uniforms and equipment but are responsible for shoes and under garments to complete uniforms.
Bulldogs registration fees are $150 for flag football/cheerleading for ages 5-7 and $175 for tackle football and cheer and dance teams ages 8-14. Multiple child discounts (same household) are also available. Inquire with the Recreation office. Deadline for registration is August 1.

The first day of practice is Tuesday August 1, 6:00 p.m. at Nishuane Park. The Bulldogs will practice Monday through Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during the month of August. This is to assure that participants are physically fit to play before tackling or cheerleading stunting.

Game season begins the weekend of September 2-3 and continues through October 14-15. Most games are held Sunday mornings or afternoons.

Some games might be played Saturdays (Flag Football) during the season. Post season play (if eligible) for both cheer and football begins the following weekend.

Pop Warner is a weight and age restricted flag and tackle football league that reduces the risk and realities of injuries.

Pop Warner mandates its football and cheerleading coaches to receive thorough background checks as well as Heads-Up and YCADA certification to ensure the safety of participants.

For more information please call the recreation office 973-509-4915 during business hours, or email Bulldogs Pop Warner at montclairjrbulldogs@gmail.com.
