SONGWRITING (MODERN ROCK)

In this seasons performance program we are pushing our students to be more creative by offering this season long songwriting course. Students will be given specific goals and new writing exercises each rehearsal, as well as use the tools they have already learned to write, compose, and arrange their own original songs in the style of modern rock.

WEDNESDAYS: 5:30-8:30pm

THE CLASH vs THE POLICE

Directors: Tom Nadolski  and Stu Damm

The Clash and The Police were both bands who sought to add as many new influences to Rock music as possible which made their influence on 90s Alternative Rock bands very palpable.  Stewart Copland's Reggae driven drumming and Joe Strummer's relevant political commentary are just two of the many influences we can bring to mind.  This show will have much to delve into, so musicians should be prepared to boraden their horizons and work on their pogo jump!

THURSDAYS: 6:00-9:00pm

ELTON JOHN vs THE WHO
Director: Maurice "Moe" Watson and Mark Dollar

We will pay tribute to two giants of ROCK. Elton John with his iconic pop songs and The Who with their anthemic rock masterpieces. Fun and challenging for every instrument!!

SATURDAYS: 12:00-3:00pm

HEROES OF HARD ROCK

Director: Maurice "Moe" Watson and Billy Smolen

There have been many who have sought to make Rock music as heavy as it can be, without sacrificing the sole characteristics that make it Rock and Roll in the first place. These bands have come to us in the form of AC/DC, Halestorm, Judas Priest, Joan Jett, Deep Purple, Van Halen, and so much more! Get ready to ROCK!

ADULT PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

FRIDAYS: 7:00-9:00pm

FUNK 'N PUNK

Director: Moe Watson and James Stivaly

In the past 40 years, no two genres of music came on the scene and interrupted the status quo quite like Funk and Punk Rock music. There are may stories of shared bills between hardcore punk bands and go-go funk bands in Washington DC back in the 80s. We hope with this program to capture that same kindred energy with a high impact show. Expect to hear music from the Clash, Sly and the Family Stone, Gap Band, Ramones, and much more!
