School of Rock Montclair Offering Adult Performance Classes with Tribute to Woodstock Theme

MONTCLAIR, NJ - School of Rock Montclair’s New Adult Performance Program will present a tribute to Woodstock ’69 and ‘94.

Beginning in October, School of Rock Montclair will enroll adult singers and musicians of any age and skill level into its new Adult Performance Program, which will combine private lessons with group rehearsals. The Adult Performance Program participants will show off their skills in a concert in January ’17 that will feature a tribute to the music of the Woodstock Festivals from 1969 and 1994.

“Our Adult Performance Program will operate in the same manner as the Performance Programs that we offer to our regular students,” says Kevin March, General Manager at School of Rock Montclair. “Participants who are beginning singers or musicians would take private one-on-one lessons each week with our pro staff and then be part of weekly group rehearsals, which will be held on Friday evenings from 7 to 9pm. Participants with more experience can elect to just be part of the weekly group rehearsals. Our big concert that presents what the Adult Performance Program students have worked so hard to create will take place in January at a top rock venue in the Montclair area.”

The music that the Adult Performance Program students will rehearse will feature hits by bands that performed at the original Woodstock festival in 1969 (including Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Sly & The Family Stone, The Band, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and many more) and the Woodstock ‘94 festival (including Collective Soul, Blues Traveler, Cypress Hill, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Sheryl Crow, and many more). The students’ concert will be directed by veteran School of Rock faculty member and master guitarist James Stivali.

“Friends and family of our Adult Performance Program students will be blown away by what they see on stage in January,” says March. “The moms and dads in the band who are typically calm and professional will display an energetic and – dare I say – sexy side of themselves that's brought out by the awesomeness of rock n’ roll!”

School of Rock Montclair’s Adult Performance Program is open to adults of any musical skill level who play guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and/or vocals. Participants aren’t required to have children enrolled in School of Rock’s regular programs. For more information, contact Kevin March at (973) 337-5296.
