School of Rock Montclair House Band, which is comprised of 14 of the School’s best teen musicians, will perform at Rock Therapy, a benefit for Dance Therapy, which is a program that was created by professional dancer Maurice Chestnut (“Dancing With the Stars” “Happy Dance 2”).  The event will be held at Sharron Miller’s Academy of Performing Arts, which is located at 14 South Park Street in Montclairon Saturday, February 11 at 7PM.

 

The Dance Therapy program aims to provide tap, ballet, and hip hop dance lessons to underprivileged children around the United States who don’t have access to such training, and who would embrace the therapeutic emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits that dance can provide.  The money raised at the benefit event and via the Dance Therapy Go Fund Me page will be used for tap shoes for students, a portable wood floor, and a sound system.

Included in the House Band’s 30 minute set will be performances of songs by such artists as Nicki Minaj, Cameo, Oddisee, Chic, Sway Clarke, Aretha Franklin, and more.
