South End Wellness Day, June 10




Montclair, NJ – The South End Business District of Montclair is hosting a Community Wellness Day as a free, educational opportunity for families and individuals in the surrounding community to learn more about wellness and practicing healthy lifestyles.  The event takes place at the Garden State Community Bank Lot at 323 Orange Road in Montclair on Saturday, June 10th from 1pm-4pm, with a rain date of June 11th.  


The event will feature health screenings including vision, spinal, foot, glucose, blood pressure, and emotional. Planned activities include Tai Chi, Zumba, Children’s Jump Rope and Chalk Drawing, Chair Yoga for seniors, a Sustainability Station, and Healthy Cooking and Crossfit demonstrations. There will be free food donated by local South End restaurants, informational tables, giveaways, and raffles.


The event is free and open to the public.

Julia Sickler, the spearhead for the event and the Community Outreach Director for Davis Integrated Medicine, says that “Wellness is more than the absence of illness, and the Montclair’s South End Wellness Day strives to provide an environment that supports the nutritional and physical well‐being of those who live, work, and play in our community.”


This event involves several different health and wellness partners from Montclair, including: Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center, Davis Integrated Medicine, Montclair Public Library, Montclair YMCA, B London, Montclair Neighborhood Development Corporation, Bridge Athletics, Montclair NAACP, Montclair African American Heritage Festival and Parade, Farmers Insurance, Montclair’s Department of Health and Office of Environmental Affairs, Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, Calandra’s Pizza, Garden State Community Bank, City Green, Councilwoman Dr. Renee Baskerville, the Montclair Police Department Community Service Unit, Main Street Divas, Senior Health Advocates, Samson’s Printing, Dr. Barnes & Carter, Family Foot Care Center, Schlaefer Masonry, and Call the Caterer.
