MONTCLAIR, NJ -  'Tis the season to be thankful! Salvation Army Citadel volunteers were grateful for a special surprise on Thursday when Talk Show Host and Author, Steve Adubato spent Thanksgiving Day volunteering at the Salvation Army Citadel, located at 13 Trinity Place in Montclair. He also brought along his 3 sons to help.

During the Thanksgiving holiday season, the Citadel serves over 100 meals. They also deliver over 1000 meals to local shelters as well as to people who are sick and shut-in around Essex County. They rely on volunteers to make that tall order happen.

Meal recipients were also in for a special surprise when they discovered that Adubato himself was delivering the meals. Adubato is no stranger to volunteering with the Citadel, having also served as emcee of the Citadel's Christmas benefit last year. Salvation Army officials state that Adubato volunteers with them regularly.

Major Kevin Stoops, who is pictured with the Adubato's above said, "He took on a big job on Thursday. He delivered quite a few meals to people."

In a tweet posted Thursday afternoon, Adubato said the following:

@SalvationArmyUS in Montclair today with our 3 sons. What a great organization #MakingADifference every day.

During the Christmas holiday, the Citadel also relies on volunteers to make their gift give-a-way event run smoothly. Stoops added, "We set up a toy shop in our gymnasium and people can come choose toys for their children." He expressed that volunteers are always welcome. "We could always use volunteers." The event will take place on December 17th and 18th.
