Straphanger Fatality at East Orange Train Station

EAST ORANGE, NJ - There was a fatal accident on Tuesday afternoon at the East Orange Station, NJ Transit officials announced.

According to firefighters and other emergency personnel at the scene, witnesses they spoke to reported that a young man was spotted siting on the tracks and was struck by an eastbound train. Any additional information, including the name of the victim has yet to be released. 

Morris & Essex line trains were subject to up to 30 minutes delays in both directions for approximately and hour.

East Orange is a New Jersey Transit station on the Morris and Essex line. The station has trains traveling from the Morristown Line and the Gladstone Branch, including service to Hoboken Terminal and Midtown Direct service to New York Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan.
