UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on Grove St. During Inclement Weather in Montclair

MONTCLAIR, NJ - A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near 83 Grove St. sometime after 8pm on Tuesday, TAPinto Montclair was the first to report. 

Police and EMS rushed to the scene to provide aide, witnesses state. Upon examination, the pedestrian was transported to the hospital. The nature of the injuries sustained are not yet known.

UPDATE: Lt. David O'Dowd stated that at approximately 8:23pm, a 54yoa Montclair man was struck by a vehicle while walking on Grove Street near Claremont Avenue.  

He said, "The male had been walking in the street, north on Grove when he was struck from behind.  A female, who had been walking in the street with the victim, was not struck."  

Police are now searching for the vehicle, which fled the scene north on Grove Street.  It is described as a tan GMC sport utility. 

"The male had complaint of pain in his side," O'Dowd added.  The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, police officials confirm.
