Utility Pole Catches Fire in Glenfield Park

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair fire officials responded to a call that a pole was on fire in Glenfield Park sometime after 9 p.m. on Monday.

Essex County Sheriff and Montclair Police Officials also responded to the scene of 37-71 Maple Ave. while they awaited PSE&G workers.

Fire Chief John Herrmann said that fire officials arrived to the scene to, "find the top of a PSEG utility pole on fire. PSEG was notified and responded and de-energized the electrical wires on the pole and will return to make repairs."

Lindsey Puliti, media relations official at PSE&G said, "At around 9 p.m. last night, wires caught on fire on Maple Ave. near Glenfield Park in Montclair. Our crews arrived at the scene to assess the damage and shut off the power to make repairs. Only one customer was affected. We are going back to inspect the transformer today before turning the power back on. The cause is under investigation."
