Victims of Triple Murder in Maplewood Identified

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The victims of the triple homicide in Maplewood on Sunday, Jan. 29, have been identified as Michael Davis, age 45, of Maplewood, Roshana Kenilson, age 30, of Paterson, and Lance Fraser, age 44, of Newark, stated Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Maplewood Police Chief Robert Cimino in a release today.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victims sustained gunshot wounds, but the cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner. Autopsies are expected to be completed on Monday, stated the release from Murray and Cimino.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, the Maplewood Fire Department responded to an apartment on Van Ness Court in Maplewood to check on the well-being of a resident after receiving a call from someone who had been unable to reach the occupants of the apartment. Firefighters used a ladder to gain entry to the apartment, and upon entry found three unresponsive adults, two men and a woman. The individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly stated that the motive for the murders is unclear, and that no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing at this time, according to Fennelly.

The Maplewood Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are continuing to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call the Prosecutor's Tips Line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or (877) 847-7432.
