MONTCLAIR, NJ - The Montclair Ambulance Unit has issued the following advisory for Montclair to protect area residents from extreme weather conditions predicted.

"THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM WEDNESDAY TO 8 AM EST THURSDAY.

* LOCATIONS...NEW YORK CITY METRO...LONG ISLAND...AND COASTAL CONNECTICUT.

 

* HAZARD TYPES...DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS.

 

* WIND CHILL READINGS...AS LOW AS 15 BELOW.

 

* IMPACTS...THE FRIGID CONDITIONS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE VENTURING OUTSIDE. PROLONGED EXPOSURE MAY CAUSE FROSTBITE.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

 

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS..
