During the week-long initiative, several locations throughout Montclair Center will collect funds, clothing and personal hygiene products for Essex County’s rape care center, SAVE of Essex County, which is a Montclair-based program serving Essex County. The donations will go to support providing rape care packages to sexual assault victims, a 24-hour emergency hotline, and victim counseling and support.

"This year's Women's Empowerment Week has grown. We also look forward to the culminating Ladies Night Out, which is the largest ever," Diane Israel, of the Montclair Center BID, stated. Israel added that Ladies Night Out has over 50 businesses participating.

This year's event was planned for April so that it directly tied in with Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
