On Wednesday, October 2, almost 1,000 runners will flood the streets of Newark for one of New Jersey’s most anticipated road race events – the 2019 Newark Corporate & Individual 5K. A nationally recognized non-profit substance use disorder treatment organization with programs in Newark, Kearny, Secaucus, Jersey City, Morris Plains, and Toms River, Integrity House hosts this yearly 5K to spread awareness of the growing epidemic of substance use disorder and the services people need to recover.
The 2019 Newark Corporate & Individual 5K will be held in downtown Newark, beginning at Washington Park, at 12:15 p.m. Participants can sign up in teams or individually. However, race day registration will only be available for individuals, so teams must register by Friday, September 27th.
Race packets may be picked up between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30th at 1093 Broad Street or on race day in Washington Park beginning at 10:30 a.m. All registered runners will receive an event t-shirt and a free lunch.
Prudential and PSEG are sponsoring the Newark Corporate & Individual 5K. All proceeds from the event will benefit Integrity House.
“Each year, we are grateful for the opportunity to bring the community together in order to raise awareness about substance abuse disorders,” said Robert J. Budsock, President and CEO of Integrity House. “As the deadly opioid and heroin epidemic continues to endanger our nation, it is essential to change the stigma associated with addiction. Hosting our annual Newark Corporate & Individual 5K allows us to continue upholding our promise of helping individuals battling this debilitating disease as well as ensure those who need the treatment, receive it.”
