NEW JERSEY — The COVID-19 Rate of Transmission, the measurement of how much the virus is spreading, fell below 1.0 on Tuesday to 0.96.  A number below 1.0 means the outbreak is on the decline, with every infected person spreading COVID-19 to fewer than one additional person, on average.

The State Health Department confirmed 9,073 additional new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

According to published reports a car thief was chased away after trying to steal a new Mercedes on Sunday.
