The Week of June 24th is an Exciting Time at Both Branches of the YMCA of Montclair
Montclair, NJ, June 13, 2019 – During the week of June 24th, the YMCA of Montclair will host Safety Around Water which is a learn to swim week at the Park Street and Geyer Family Branch. For a $25 registration fee, children ages 6 months+ through adults can take FREE swim classes. Five classes are offered, Monday through Friday, and a Y membership is not required. The 40-minute swim/safety lessons are taught by certified swim instructors and are designed for those with little or no swim experience. Pre-registration IN PERSON is required and space is limited.
The YMCA of Montclair recently began to offer swim lessons that are open to the community. Previously, swim lessons at both branches were only open to Members.
“Summer is here, and recent high-profile drowning tragedies have once again thrust water safety into the spotlight, stressing the dire importance of teaching children and adults how to swim,” said Tammy Como, Association Aquatics Director at the YMCA of Montclair. “We’re proud and excited to offer free swim classes during our Safety Around Water Program, and we encourage everyone who wants to benefit from this program to sign up now before space is full.”
Also during the week of June 24th, the Geyer Family Branch of the YMCA of Montclair will offer its Members and Community Members (members of the community who don’t hold Y memberships) the opportunity to try out a few of its great classes in cooking, dance, art, and sports. The cost is $15 per class for YMCA of Montclair Members and $20 per class for Community Members.
“Drop in Classes are a great opportunity for Members to check out something new at our Geyer Family Branch, as well as for members of the community to come in and give us a try,” said Justine Biendon, Executive Director of the Geyer Family Branch. “We hope that our current Members take advantage of the offerings and find something new that they enjoy, and that others are encouraged to stop in and see what we’re all about.”
The Summer Session at the Y’s Park Street Branch begins June 29 (Community Member registration begins June 17) and July 1 at their Geyer Family Branch (Community Member registration begins June 24).
