MORRISTOWN, NJ - The owners of a local Montclair business, just received a small business award for their Morristown location of their store, Just Jersey. Located at 163 South Street in Morristown, Just Jersey was recently named by The New York Jets and M&T Bank as the winner of the second annual Small Business Showcase.
Just Jersey was created by co-owners Paul Miller and Tina Bologna as "a way to celebrate the natural beauty, diversity, culture, grit and attitude of the Garden State". The shop offers handcrafted goods made locally by Garden State artists, designers and other small businesses.
"We are so excited about the opportunity to work with the Jets and M&T Bank in order to help promote and grow our business", said Bologna. "This is a dream come true for a local business as well as dedicated Jets fans! It was thrilling just to be in the Training facility during the pitch and meet some of the executives with both M&T Bank and the NY Jets. They were so gracious and kind to us, and although we were nervous, it was an amazing experience".
The store will receive sponsorship assets worth $100,000 with the New York Jets for the 2019 football season which will include stadium signage for all Jets home games, commercial units in Jets game day radio broadcasts on 98.7 ESPN, an opportunity to have an on-site presence at Jets Training Camp presented by M&T Bank as well as an on-site presence at a Jets home game.
Over 200 applicants applied but it was Just Jersey, along with AJ's Gourmet Grilled Cheese Shop (Bay Shore, NY), Benefits Square (Edison), Casale Jewelry (Staten Island), and Greens Do Good (Hackensack) who were named the final five small business finalists. Each of the five businesses were invited to attend a Pitch Night on July 22 where they had the opportunity to present to a panel of Jets and M&T Bank executives for final consideration.
"We are very happy to announce Just Jersey as the winner of the Jets and M&T Small Business Showcase," said New York Jets President Neil Glat. "In partnership with M&T Bank, this program provides a great opportunity to support our community and local, small businesses within it. The Jets gladly welcome Just Jersey into our family, and we are thrilled to work with them throughout the 2019 season."
Owners Miller and Bologna intend to work to ensure the sponsorship package benefits the 250 makers and small businesses that supply the locally made products for their stores. Their hope is also to continue to grow their retail business.
"We recently opened our second location in Montclair and are still building our presence there", said Bologna. "We would love to continue to expand into other areas of the state through a retail and online presence".
“Small businesses not only play a vital role in their local communities but our country’s economy as a whole," says Giuseppe Mastroeli, Group Vice President of Business Banking at M&T Bank. "At M&T, we understand the importance of supporting small businesses and promoting economic health in the areas we serve. Our partnership with the New York Jets allows us to do just that in Greater New Jersey and beyond. We join the Jets in congratulating Just Jersey and all of this year’s finalists for their inspiring entrepreneurial skills and passion for their businesses.”
