FAIRFIELD, NJ - An elementary student at Edgemont won a second place prize in Pomptonian Food Service’s 2nd Annual Healthy School Lunch Challenge. Eliza Chiu competed against other New Jersey students as they rolled up their sleeves and brought their A-game.

In honor of National Nutrition Month, each March students are challenged to whip up recipes that include a lean protein; feature whole-grains, fruits, and vegetables; and utilize healthy cooking techniques from the comfort of their own homes. If that is not challenging enough, students managed to throw on their aprons and show us we can dish out delicious and nutritious meals even during quarantine.

The winners will receive a banner celebrating their achievement and the winning meals will be prepared by Pomptonian staff and sold in the cafeteria.  Additionally, the two first-place winners will also receive a vertical garden for their school and Pomptonian’s Chef Greg will prepare their winning meal to be featured in the school cafeteria.  All prizes will be presented after quarantine has been lifted.
