On April 2nd, at 5:56AM the Montclair Fire Department received a call reporting a house fire on North Fullerton Ave. 

Units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire between the 2nd and 3rdfloors at the rear of the house.  The residents self evacuated prior to the Fire Department’s arrival.  A cat was rescued by Fire Department personnel.  The fire was declared under control quickly, the last units left the scene at 9:01AM.

The second and third floors of the building sustained fire, smoke and water damage.  The first floor sustained extensive water damage.   Substantial overhaul was necessary to ensure fire was extinguished in all walls and voids.

Units from Bloomfield and Clifton helped to bring the fire under control.  There were three minor Fire Department injuries, and no reported civilian injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
