MONTCLAIR, NJ - Seton Hall University will be honoring the basketball legacy of Robert Hurt, Sr. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, his family announced.

According to his family, Hurt was the first African-American male to play basketball at the University in 1948. He is known most for using his left hand to play the sport, thue earning him the nickname, "Left Hand."

Hurt is the father of the late Robert 'Bobby Smooth' Hurt, also a basketball player, whom the Glenfield Park basketball courts are named after.

This honor will take place at the game at around 11:15am, during the first timeout, at the Prudential Center during the Seton Hall vs. Xavier basketball game.

Tickets can be purchased at the Seton Hall University box office.
