MONTVILLE, NJ - The night before Valentine’s Day, the Montville boys basketball team beat Pequannock 52-48 as the ‘red-out’ student section stood with high spirits cheering from the stands.

Montville began the first half strong with a score of 31-21, yet the game soon became neck and neck by the middle of the third quarter when Pequannock first stole the lead. The battle between the two team's was aggressive and tight as even one of Montville’s players, senior Nick Bio, injured his left shoulder towards the end of the game. However, it ultimately ended in Montville’s victory with captain Joe DelloStritto scoring a game-high of 19 points and captain Zach Warech following with 11 points.

For Pequannock, Ryan Hitchcock contributed 14 points, with Giovanni Rubino and David Jachera adding 10 and nine points, respectively, for their team.

Montville (12-6) will be hosting conference-rival Chatham at their next home game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21.
