MONTVILLE, NJ - Chief Rudy Appelmann of the Montville Township Police Department announces the arrest of Sean J. Smith, age 38 of Montville, NJ.
A joint investigation by the Montville Township Police Department, the Boonton Township Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office resulted in the arrest of Sean Smith for committing three burglaries within the Township of Montville which occurred between July 1 and Aug. 23, 2014.
According to Lt. Andrew Caggiano of the Montville Police Deptartment, the person forced the rear door open at two of the homes that were burglarized and the third home was believed to have been entered through an unlocked door. "Detectives were able to recover a couple of pieces of jewelry for one of the victims," Caggiano said.
The investigation also resulted in Smith being charged for an additional burglary that he committed in Parsippany over this past weekend.
Smith was charged with three counts of burglary and theft and lodged in the Morris County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000 with a 10% option for each burglary charge.
