MONTVILLE, NJ – Jacksonville Road was closed in Towaco for half of Saturday and on Sunday when a Nissan Pathfinder left the roadway at #31 and struck a utility pole.
The car was traveling on Jacksonville just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, according to police spokesman Capt. Andrew Caggiano. Police received the report of the accident, near Marguerite Lane, at 4:09.
The driver had minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Montville Township First Aid Squad. The utility pole was badly damaged, which forced the closure of Jacksonville Road. The accident is still under investigation but no summons have been issued, Caggiano said.
The pole was replaced early Sunday morning according to workers on the scene. No power, cable or telephone service interruptions resulted from the accident, according to workers on the scene. Each company had to send workers to transfer their wires onto the new pole. Jacksonville was re-opened Sunday afternoon, but due to heavy rains on Sunday, as of press time the transference of wires had not yet been completed.
