WAYNE, NJ - Dave and Busters at Williowbrook Mall opens February 14. TAPinto got an invitation-only preview of Dave and Buster's Willowbrook Mall location with a chance to play games and indulge in food and drink. This location is the second to open in the Garden State and the 109th to open in the chain.
General Manager Dan McGuiness explained that Dave and Buster's had been trying to get into New Jersey for years. In the past their legislation prevented games of chance at a location that serves alcohol, that changed recently leading to the opening of the Woodbridge location in November and now Wayne this week. McGuiness is no stranger to Wayne, prior to managing a D&B on Long Island, he managed a different restaurant in Wayne.
McGuiness pointed out several aspects of the restaurant that make it appealing to adults as well as families with children. A standout feature is the 'family bathroom' that allows families to use the facilities together, and keep all of the kids together while someone is taking care of business. All new D&B locations, including Woodbridge, have this feature.
At 48,000 square feet, the restaurant-arcade-sports bar is big. The million dollar midway has more than 100 games including the world's largest Pac-Man, skee ball, shooting games and driving games. The sports bar area has three billiard tables, 15 television screens and lots of tables for a sports-dining experience. At the main bar area, by the entrance, guests will find 16 screens over the two sides of the bar, with another eight just outside the bar area.
Some of the arcade games are single player, others like skiing, have options so that one person can hit the virtual slopes or four people can race each other. The air hockey board is square and can accommodate four players. Patrons earn point when they win games. The points can be redeemed for prizes, with items like Haribo Gummy Bears requiring only a few points and others requiring many more. The points never expire, so they can be saved and combined with later winnings for larger prizes.
And for those who like to mix business with pleasure, D&B offers rooms for business meetings complete with sound systems and wi-fi for presentations and team building activities. For those who want to dine in a little less hectic area, the full service dining room is just off the main floor.
Dave and Busters is located on what was the second floor of the Sears store. Sears was one of the original tenants of the mall when it opened nearly 50 years ago. As Sears changed, so did the mall. Sears gave back a large portion of the space it occupied to the mall who in turn made it available to Dave and Busters. Stairs or the elevator make the second floor location accessible to everyone.
The official ribbon-cutting for the Wayne location will be held at 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14 after which time it will be open for business.
