DENVILLE, NJ - The principal of a Denville middle school is facing charges including attempted sexual assault of a student, according to authorities.
The man, Paul Iantosca, 52, who is principal of Valleyview Middle School, was charged with one count of luring, one count of attempted sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, said Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Acting Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker and Denville Police Chief Frank Perna.
Iantosca is a Randolph resident, said the authorities.
They said Iantosca engaged in the illegal actions with a 16-year-old former student. Iantosca is being held in the Morris County jail, they noted.
Denville Superintendent of School Steven Forte issued the following statement in connection with the incident:
"Last evening I was notified by the Denville Police Department that Valleyview Principal, Mr. Paul Iantosca was arrested and charged with luring, child endangerment and attempted sexual assault with a minor.
Mr. Iantosca has been suspended and is not permitted on school grounds or to have contact with any staff or students.
This did not occur on school grounds and did not involve any students who currently attend Denville Twp PK-8 schools.
This matter will be handled in a court of law, and remains under investigation.
