MONTVILLE, NJ - A Montville resident's dog was struck and killed by a dirt bike this weekend and police are trying to identify the motorcycle rider who committed this "senseless and horrific act," Montville Police Captain Andrew Caggiano said.

Caggiano reported that at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 a resident was walking his 12 year old pug named Zhaba in the area of 2 Ward Witty Drive when a dirt bike approached the resident from behind coming from the Stoney Brook Road area.

"The motorcycle drove past him at a high rate of speed and struck the resident's dog and continued without stopping," Caggiano said. "There was an ATV that was observed following the dirt bike which stopped on Ward Witty, turned around, and went back onto Stoney Brook Road."
