MADISON, NJ — Dress for Success Morris County  (www.morriscounty.dressforsuccess.org), the non-profit organization that empowers women by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help them thrive in work and life, announced that its 10th-Annual Transforming Lives Gala raised more than $100,000, making it the largest fundraiser of the year.

The Gala, held at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston, was supported by 24 New Jersey corporate sponsors and drew nearly 300 attendees. Additional monies were raised by individual contributions, ad sales and live and silent auctions.

All proceeds support DFSMC’s employment retention programs, empowering women to become economically self-sufficient.

“I could have had a different story, my life could have turned a different way and the road could have been a different one,” said Emily Perez, who spoke to the audience during the event. “Dress for Success touches so many women by helping them to get on their feet and move on with their lives. I know because I was one of those women—a diamond in the rough. Today, thanks to all the support I have received, I am now a shining, polished gemstone.”

Running almost exclusively on volunteers and donations, Dress for Success Morris County acts as an executive coach, an image consultant, a mentor and support system for women across ten New Jersey counties including Morris, Essex, Union, Passaic, Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex, Middlesex, Bergen and Somerset Counties.

“In the ten years since the first Gala, almost 8,500 women have been served,” said Bette Schultz, DFSMC’s Board President. “Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and volunteers, we are able to continue to provide much needed support to women who are coping with challenges such as finding meaningful employment, developing job skills, and in restoring their dignity and self-esteem.”
