There are only a few short weeks left until the fall weather turns brisker and festival season comes to an end. Don’t miss out on all the family-friendly fun available throughout the North Jersey area this coming weekend.

Annual Harvest Celebration

In Downtown Chester, the city is celebrating the season with a weekend-long fall festival taking place October 15 and 16. Highlights include live entertainment, raffle events, and plenty of food. Guests are invited to buy tickets to the soup and chili cook-off—granting the opportunity to sample the top recipes from area chefs. Winners of the competition will be selected by both people’s and judges’ choice.

Great Pumpkin Train in Phillipsburg

The Great Pumpkin Train is a time-honored autumn tradition. Every October, visitors to the historic train station can take a scenic tour through the fall foliage and disembark at a family-friendly corn maze. A stop is also made at a pumpkin patch where every child is invited to pick a free pumpkin from the field. The weekend schedule has departures at 11:00, 12:30, 2:00, and 3:30.

Westfield Street Fair and Craft Show

On October 15, Downtown Westfield will be holding their annual street fair and craft show. The fair starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Thousands of attendees are expected to attend this popular event. Buy unique arts and crafts items while also enjoying festival favorite foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, and ice cream.

Festival of Lights in Jersey City

Looking for a unique cultural experience? Then, head on over to Grundy Pier and Exchange Place and take part in the Diwali Festival of Lights. This is a free event that takes place on October 16—rain or shine. There will be live dancing, musical acts, street vendors, authentic cuisine, and raffles.
