MONTVILLE, NJ – Towaco’s own Homeless Bus and Hearts ‘n Hands Mission of Wayne hosted a donation drive on Oct. 18 at the Senior House in Montville.

The Homeless Bus collected food items such as water bottles and cup ‘o’ soup, and Hearts ‘n Hands accepted donations of clothing such as coats and socks. Hearts ‘n Hands is part of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Wayne.

“The Mission distributes life's basic needs to over 800 homeless and working poor in the northeastern New Jersey urban areas,” said Montville resident and Mission President Bob Davidson. “Every month we distribute clothing and other items. Today we collected approximately 100 bags of used clothing and coats, plus numerous donations of socks and toiletries.”

“We were able to completely stuff the bus with soups, water, yoohoo, Gatorade, various snacks and lots of personal size toiletries,” said Anna Landgrebe, who owns the Homeless Bus with her husband Mark. “In the end, we were very touched to receive support from the community, especially the Pine Brook Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, who collected toiletries for us before our event.

“We also liked partnering with Heart 'n Hands Mission, so the community could help support two organizations at the same time. Our mission to help the needy and underserved is the same; we just fulfill this need in different ways,” said Landgrebe.
