MONTVILLE, NJ – If you’re looking for a workout with a personal trainer feel but in a supportive, group setting, you’ll find your “home” at Impact Fitness Solutions.
Formerly Next Generation Training Center, the center rebranded last month.
“We’re still the same great facility,” said owner Orley Lago. “If you loved what we did before, we have the same great workouts and the same coaches.”
Lago said the center is different because of its approach to personal training.
“Most places have a one coach to one client method,” Lago said. “We utilize small group sessions with a progress and regress method, so you still have an individual approach to fitness, but at a fraction of the cost of personal training.”
Each class has a ratio of six members to one trainer, and trainers walk around the room, checking each participant's form.
“If it’s not correct, the trainer will correct them,” Lago said. “If an exercise is too easy, we’ll progress it, making it slightly harder; if the exercise is a little too hard or there’s something a person can’t do, we’ll regress it, making it customized for each participant.”
In this way, an athlete or an older individual with no experience can participate in the same class, he said.
“It’s in the middle between personal training versus large groups,” Lago said. “Because of the mid-sized group and the economy of the being in a group and not one-to-one, you can work out more often, with more results.”
Members have access to the entire schedule at the 1800-square-foot facility, Lago said, and all trainers have four-year degrees in exercise science. Classes might use bikes, treadmills, or skiers. Participants schedule themselves into classes using the facility’s app.
Lago says he and his co-workers consider members to be part of the Impact family, and together they do charity work each month to give back. Right now they’re in the middle of a six-week challenge that has raised $600 for multiple sclerosis, a cause that’s very important to one of the members who lost a loved one to the illness. In February, the gym helped approximately 24 cats and dogs to be adopted through a pet charity, and they raised $500 the prior month for Special Olympics through a trainer’s polar bear plunge.
Impact Fitness Solutions is located at 3 Mars Court near Pyramid Mountain. It’s open seven days a week.
