Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) will participate in the National Night Out event in Point Pleasant next Tuesday, August 1, to help promote the benefits of outdoor lighting in fighting crime.

As part of the event at Point Pleasant Community Park, 2255 Bridge Avenue, JCP&L representatives will demonstrate safety equipment used by linemen and other utility personnel from 6 to 9 p.m.

“National Night Out is a reminder that we can all help build safe and vibrant communities,” said Jim Fakult, president of JCP&L.  “Just as homeowners can take steps to ensure their property is well-lit, we work with municipalities across our service area to keep the street lights on.”

National Night Out is a campaign that promotes police-community partnership at the neighborhood level to improve safety.  This is the 33rd annual National Night Out, and thousands of events are planned for the night of August 1 across all 50 states and Canada.
