MONTVILLE, NJ – Montville Township High School (MTHS) artist, Lianne Pflug, was awarded the cover of the MTHS “Program of Studies.”
Pflug, a junior in Joanne Zoppo’s Advanced Placement (AP) Art class, submitted her design to the 2nd Annual “Program of Studies” Cover Design competition. Her artwork was chosen from over a dozen advanced Visual Art student entries.
The “Program of Studies” is an on-line publication. The cover design artwork serves as the graphic icon that links the entire educational community to the guide. Being awarded the cover of the “Program of Studies” is a high-profile honor. The “Program of Studies” provides an educational smorgasbord of opportunities for learning and growth. It is a guide of choices that can determine the course of one’s day, year and, ultimately, one’s life. Pflug’s design serves as the gateway to important educational information.
In the coming months, Pflug’s cover design will be referred to by over a thousand families, as well as hundreds of teachers and administrators in Montville Township.
“All families are directed to the ‘Program of Studies’ (POS) via a letter, and by their counselors,” explained the Montville Township Public Schools Director of Guidance, Leslee Scheckman. “Everyone has access so they can use the POS as a reference for course selection and many other important items including graduation requirements.”
Judges for the contest included Supervisor for the Arts Edward Fleischman, MTHS Principal Douglas Sanford, and Scheckman.
Pflug’s artwork is prominently displayed on the MTHS and Robert R. Lazar Middle School web pages. It is also referenced on the district’s main page (www.montville.net).
