MONTVILLE, NJ – Superintendent of Schools René Rovtar announced the likely replacement for retiring Lazar Middle School Principal Sharon Carr on May 12.
“I am extremely pleased to confirm that I have recommended to the Board of Education that Michael Pasciuto be appointed to the position of Principal of Robert R. Lazar Middle School at their meeting on May 16,” Rovtar told TAPinto Montville. “The search for a new Lazar principal has been a very thorough process. We had 97 applicants for the position. The initial screening interviews resulted in the selection of eight candidates to bring before the full interview committee. The interview committee was composed of parents, teachers and administrators from Lazar and across the district. At the conclusion of the interviews, Mr. Pasciuto was the overall preferred candidate."
Rovtar said that Pasciuto comes to Montville Township from his position as Assistant Principal at Glen Rock High School, where he has served since July of 2015. Prior to his work in Glen Rock, he served as the Supervisor of Social Studies K-12 in the Cresskill School District from 2011 to 2015 and as a social studies teacher in grades 7 through 12 from 2008 to 2011. He was named the Governor’s Teacher of the Year at Cresskill Middle School for the 2009-2010 school year.
Pasciuto is a graduate of Dickinson College. He received a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Thomas Edison State University.
“We anticipate welcoming Mike on board officially in July. I am confident that he will be an excellent addition to the Lazar Middle School and to our excellent school district,” Rovtar said.
