MONTVILLE, NJ - The Arrow of Light den from Cub Scout Pack 179 recently participated in the Kiwanis “adopt-a-hydrant” program by painting the fire hydrants on Willard Lane in Towaco. The boys cleared the area, scraped and cleaned the hydrants before painting them. The hydrants are now visible for firefighters to see in an emergency.

The Kiwanis Club has partnered with the township’s water and sewer department to restore and paint all fire hydrants in Montville Township during a multi-year program. Kiwanis will enlist the help from other township organizations such as Key Club, Scouts, and other civic organizations. Individuals who wish to paint a hydrant in their neighborhood are also welcome to participate.

Kiwanis will assign the areas to be painted and maintain records as previously done by water and sewer staff.
