DENVILLE, NJ - This month a Bronx, NY man stole a forklift worth about $25,500 from a Denville business and sold it for a lot less than that, police said.

The man, David Mendez, 35, faces a theft of movable property charge, according to Denville police. They said the charges relate to the theft of the forklift on Dec. 11, who was brought to police headquarters after police identified him as the person who took the machine.

When he was being interrogated  by police, Mendez "admitted to stealing the forklift and selling it at a scrap yard for $327.60," police said.

In addition to the theft charge, Mendez was also charged on a warrant out of Fort Lee Municipal Court, they said. He was released pending court appearances on both charges.
